After POOL and before heading back to NYC, I stopped by Los Angeles to see some friends and scope out some shops. Of course I had to stop by Melrose, and poke my head into the KiKiDM store to check out ARMOR on display. Seriously, this company’s branding is sick. All three of their US locations look amazing, but each one designed to according to their location. The Los Angeles store for instance is very big and spaced out, very much like Los Angeles. I am loving the glass displays! Be sure to stop by KiKi DM on Melrose to pick up your own Armor!

I have always considered myself lucky and blessed that I work in the creative industry. I thought I was really cool walking around campus, lugging around my portfolio case. ( I probably didn’t look so cool, I just thought it). As much as I love design, there is just one thing I could never do. Draw…Unless, you considering stick-figures a form of drawing. I will openly admit, my drawing and sketching skills are not up to par. I was always envious of those who could whip up a sketch in minutes. For example, the illustrations above are from my friend, SoHyun. How amazing are they? Armor Jewelry was even lucky enough to be included in her latest sketch. Can you find it?

This may be something I need to invest it. FLOWER ROBOTICS INC. has designed a “robotic” mannequin, the U.T. Palette.
“The U.T. Palette has sensors to detect people around it, and it can show off jewelry to its best advantage by assuming a variety of poses depending on the situation… Over time , it accumulates data on customer reactions, and learns from that data in order to perform shows that results in favorable reactions.”
Sounds a bit like how Terminator got started no? Regardless, this an enhancement from the ol’ boring static mannequin.
