I have such talented friends and it is always and honor when we can get together in one room to work on a project. Last month we got together to shoot the ELEVEN lookbook. Although it was a downpour outside, it was all fun inside. Photographer, Stephanie Seliskar has done numerous jobs for New York Fashion week, ZINK Magazine, and one of my favorites, Pamela Love. She is a super talented lady and you should hire her for other jobs. Stephanie also brought on hair and makeup guru done Buddy Head (rock star name.) You can also check out his stuff on Stephanie’s site.
Special thanks to my friend Bohra Rhee for being my PA for the day. Asking friends to do grunt work is never great. Account management skills put to use! And last but not least, to Major Model Management for providing us with such a beautiful and professional model.
All the above contributed to a successful shoot and I have them to thank for my beautiful lookbook!
After eight months of experimenting with ideas and nuanced techniques, ARMOR has finally completed its handmade ELEVEN Collection. In three words ELEVEN is simple, sleek, defiant.
While the new pieces serve to expand ARMOR’s language in chic expression, it does so in a manner that conceptually breaks away from previous collections. ELEVEN stands out in two ways: shape and material. Solid forms have been deliberately pursued on the basis that it can speak as clearly and boldly as chained elegance already has. In addition to the aesthetic changes, finer metals such as sterling silver are used to complement the alternative designs.
True to its unique way, ARMOR redefines how far the imagination can be made real.
Restore NYC is a non-profit providing freedom, safety and identity to foreign-born survivors of sex trafficking in NYC.
Restore implements a comprehensive model of service delivery for our clients as a way to fight the epidemic of modern-day slavery in NYC. Our program provides tailored services that are victim-centered and implements an empowerment model that focuses on restoring a client’s freedom and identity through validation, community and a celebration of strengths. Our goal is to support and walk alongside our clients as they move forward in their healing journey.
Restore’s goal is to raise $200,000 this year to provide housing and comprehensive services to foreign born survivors of sex trafficking. I am very excited to say that ARMOR has the honor of participating in this year’s silent auction at the gala to help reach that goal. Don’t miss out on a great event for an even greater cause. Get tickets HERE!
ARMOR has the honor of working with BENSONI for their FALL 2011 collection. The first two images are of two custom pieces I created for the show. Also featured is the AEON, CHRISTOPHE, DELLAH, FRENGE, UME, and a piece from the new collection *wink*. It was so great to see the other pieces on the models in such beautiful clothing.
Special thanks to Sonia and Ben for letting me a part of this wonderful experience!
Phantogram was the musical guest on Jimmy Fallon last night! (02/02/11) Keyboardist/ lead singer Sarah rockin not one, not two, but THREE ARMOR jewelry pieces! CHRISTOPHE for the shoulder, LORICAT for the body, and ABEE on the digits. ARMOR has got it covered! Please excuse the annoying play button the screen caps. You can check out some of Phantogram’s other songs HERE and HERE. You can also check them out at COACHELLA 2011!
I love dance. Period. Dancing has and always will be a part of my life. It has become influential in many ways. Hello ARMOR. I will openly admit I watch and enjoy all dance movies. (yes, Step Up 1,2 and 3) I have always particularly been a fan of hip hop. Even though these days its def transformed and become more of a “street jazz” culture. It’s not just about fast beats and thumping. I love how choreographers have these acute ears and they hear beats that aren’t there. (Ie video 3). Any teacher will tell you that its important to learn all forms of dance. Ballet, Jazz, African, anything that gets you moving. All these forms of dance influence one another and if you do not allow yourself to learn other forms, you are a one note wonder. Check out a few of my favorites below. You may even find me in one of them…
NY is looking and feeling a bit like the North Pole. (what is 0%?!) We have been dumped with a lot of snow this winter. I came across this video by K Taro Hashimura, who documented the big snow storm from December. Something very magical about it. Enjoy
